Work with a Coach
You can achieve the change you want. We'll support you.

The WSBP Personal Finance Coach provides one-on-one individual coaching to help you look at where things are right now and where you want to go. Together, you'll find a path that works for you because YOU have determine it! Whether you're hoping to buy a car a few years down the line, plan for the inheritance you may be receiving, or can't figure out how you'll ever get out of all that debt, the WSBP Personal Finance Coach can help.

What's the difference between a coach and a counselor?

There are a lot of people and resources that can help you in your personal financial journey through a variety of methods, products, and services. Services are often complementary to each other, and you may need to focus more on the work you're doing with one type of professional at certain times in your life than others.

Here's a breakdown of common Personal Finance professionals that may be able to help you:

  • Counselors - typically focus on fixing. They'll often focus on fixing credit or buying a home/achieving some finite, defined goal. They really know their stuff, and they'll tell you what to do based on their knowledge.

  • Coaches - with a coach, you'll drive the agenda. A coach won't tell you where you should be. Rather, you determine (with the guidance of a coach) the goals you'd like to achieve and the coach will work with you to define a path that works for you. The Personal Finance Coach will ask you powerful questions, rather than telling you what to do.

What's it like to work with the WSBP Personal Finance Coach?

There's a process that will help to facilitate a trusting relationship between you and the WSBP Personal Finance Coach. Sessions are usually between 45 minutes to 1 hour, except for the first session. Throughout the sessions, you'll build a trusting relationship with the coach so you can find the accountability and support you need to achieve your goals. Here's a sample of what a few sessions might look like with your coach:

  • Session 1: Initial intake session. The first session typically takes around 1.5 hours. In the session, you'll meet the Coach and chat with her about your current knowledge, interests, and circumstances. You'll work together to form working agreements and she'll give you information about what to expect from your work together. You'll then schedule a follow-up meeting to start work!

  • Session 2: You'll start to dive into your goal-setting and begin determining a path to take. You'll need to do some data collection and analysis - all with the help and support of the coach.

  • Session 3: You'll build out your goals and set mini-goals to achieve regularly. In between sessions, you'll check in with the coach to let her know how you're doing and if she can provide any resources in the meantime.

You can meet with the coach as often or little as you like. We typically suggest you meet with the coach at least 3 times in about 1.5 months. Then, you might check-in every few months, or you might check-in weekly. It all depends on what you need.
